‘Namak Paara’ is a crunchy, savory snack from the South Asian subcontinent which is also known as ‘Mathri’ in some regions. Shaped like a ribbon, these snacks are made with flour, oil and water and are seasoned with herbs such as cumin (jeera) or carom (ajwain) seeds. Namak Para’s texture comes very close to that of a Samosa and it can be consumed with mint-lemon or tamarind chutneys.
